The local feed store got a shipment of baby Bantam chicks. I picked out 5 of them yesterday:
1 white silkie, 1 polish crested, 1 each Belgian d'Uccle mille fleur& porcelain, and a POSSIBLE Belgianh d'Uccle red (maybe not).
Hopefully I won't have any roosters in the group. I do have a friend who will take my roosters. she lives on 5 acres of orchard - she doesn't have neighbors to throw rocks at her when the roosters crow. She has enough space for each rooster to establish his own little territory and they make good "watch dogs" for the property. But its sad to get attached to them only to have to give them away because they grow up to crow. I'm hoping I have 5 hens.
Right now I'm keeping them at the Vet clinic where I work until they are old enough to come home. They're only about 3" tall right now!
Photos tomorrow.
